The bMOOC is for primary English teachers in Portugal who are teaching children in Grades 3 and 4. It has the following aims
To develop primary English teachers’ formative assessment literacy
To bridge the theory-practice gap
To foster a desire for professional transformation and improvement
To contribute to combating professional isolation through online communities of practice
At the end of this bMOOC, primary English teachers will be able to
Identify age-appropriate activities and assessment tools for listening and speaking activities
Select, adapt and develop their own assessment tools
Justify approaches to and criteria for classroom-based assessment in their contexts
The course gave me the tools to question my school’s assessment guidelines and it reinforced the need to include educational outcomes in the final assessment. Although not completely, because the road is long, I feel more confident to propose changes to the guidelines at the end of the school year.
The Classroom-based assessment in primary English education bMOOC has been developed by researchers and teacher educators at CETAPS, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and LE@D, Universidade Aberta, Portugal with support from Direção Geral de Educação and APPI – Associação Portuguesa de Professores de Inglês.
