The bMOOC in detail

This bMOOC is an innovative asynchronous, massive [closed] online course which alternates theory as input and hands-on experimentation contemplating the participation of 150 primary English teachers and involving 10 teacher educators as online facilitators.

It has nine modules, each lasting a week, with activities estimated to take around 4 hours. The theory modules involve putting theory into practice and planning for listening and speaking activities with embedded assessment approaches. The practical modules entail teachers trying out the activities and their formative assessment approaches.

The course fosters a reflective approach to practice, and assessment is undertaken through an e-portfolio which includes individual reflections, the creation of artefacts (e.g. activities and assessment tools) and peer-assessment documents.

Upon successful completion of the bMOOC and its e-portfolio, participants receive an accreditation certificate of 35 hours.
